Pressure washing in Venice

Two sets of watering rules cover Venice-area addresses: the City of Venice inside city limits, and Sarasota County in unincorporated South Venice and Venice Gardens.

City of Venice Utilities posts the Phase III order, extended through March 31, 2027, as a PDF sheet on its Water Restrictions page.

Pressure washing rules in Venice

For South Venice and Venice Gardens, the Sarasota County Water Restrictions page applies: all residents of unincorporated Sarasota County follow the County’s landscape and irrigation rules, with watering days set by Resolution 2022-234.

Under that resolution a South Venice house number ending in 0 or 1 waters on Monday, and one ending in 8 or 9 waters on Friday.

In Venice the Phase III order, extended by the Southwest Florida Water Management District, allows a wash that prepares a surface for paint or sealer, and bars any association from enforcing a rule that requires pressure washing.

On the island, a wash ahead of a repaint inside the Historic or Venetian Theme districts leads to the City’s color requirements, reviewed by the Venice Architectural Review Board.

Inside the city, the Census places 16.8 percent of Venice units in large buildings of 20 or more, which share their decks, garages and entry paths among owners or tenants.

Mobile homes make up 11.8 percent of City of Venice housing units, and their siding is a low-pressure soft wash job.

Venice holds 4,723 housing units, 22.5 percent of the city total, for seasonal, recreational or occasional use (Census vacancy table).

Pressure washing questions in Venice

Can I pressure wash my Venice pool deck under the current water shortage order?

A wash before sealing or painting the deck is allowed under the Phase III order through March 31, 2027, and inside Venice city limits the rules sheet is the Phase III PDF on the City of Venice Utilities Water Restrictions page. In South Venice and Venice Gardens, Sarasota County Public Utilities enforces the order and has cited violations without warning since April 17, 2026.

Who sets watering rules for a South Venice address?

Sarasota County, because South Venice lies outside Venice city limits, and the County page says every resident of unincorporated Sarasota County follows its irrigation rules under Resolution 2022-234. A South Venice house number ending in 8 or 9 waters on Friday, the same day as common areas with no assigned address.

Is washing before a repaint allowed in Venice right now?

Yes: prep washing for paint is allowed under the Phase III order, and on the Venice island the repaint itself then has to meet the City’s color requirements if the parcel sits in the Historic or Venetian Theme districts, and the Architectural Districts map on venicegov.com shows which parcels do.
